Solar Electric Systems

How Solar Works

1. Capturing the power of the sun: Modular solar panels mounted on your roof or grounds capture sunlight and convert that raw power into DC power.

2. Conversion to AC: The captured DC power is sent to an inverter, which converts the DC into AC power—the same as the power you receive from your electric utility grid.

3. Powering your home or building: From the inverter, AC power travels to your electrical panel (breaker box) and is then distributed to the electrical loads throughout your structure.

4. Constant source of electricity: Because you’re still connected to the electric utility grid, you automatically receive electricity from the grid when your demand exceeds your solar production. When you produce excess power beyond your needs, the excess flows into the grid through your utility meter, causing it to spin backward and giving you a credit with the utility company.
